General Overview of Payment Methods

NOTE : The information on this page has now been partially superseded by the information on my page on new payment methods – see my post regarding new payment methods before consulting the information below; effectively, my new payment portal largely replaces the old PayPal portal that was unusable in some countries.

I’m often asked about how payment can be made, or what facilities I use, for online payment. To summarise, the following should cover the vast majority of eventualities.

Methods of Payment

Electronic Invoice via PayPal

The vast majority of payments can be completed online using most credit or debit cards via the invoice I send to your email. This is only sent on completion and return of your corrections, and by default I give up to 10 days to complete payment. By following the appropriate link on your invoice, you will be taken through the PayPal payment process.

Please note that despite appearances to the contrary on the PayPal invoice payment screen, you do not need a PayPal account to complete payment – there is a link to allow you to pay directly by card. Of course, if you do happen to have a PayPal account, you can make payment with this also at this point.

Direct Bank Transfer or Transfer Facility

If you don’t want to use the electronic invoice to make payment, or otherwise can’t – for instance, I’m aware my Turkish clients are unable to use PayPal – then I’m happy to alternatively send my bank account details on request to allow for a direct bank transfer or for use with a transfer facility.

For the latter, I’ve been led to understand that TransferWise (or Wise) is considerably cheaper than a direct bank transfer, and a number of my clients have successfully made payment to me using this facility.

Please note: if you opt for a direct bank transfer, please use your name and invoice number as the payment reference to help me track your payment. The TransferWise facility, and most other money transfer facilities will normally send me a confirmation email, so no further action should be needed on your part.

paypal.me

For those with a PayPal account, I can also accept the new paypal.me facility. My paypal.me link is:

https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/chasingrays

If you’d like a custom link for this facility, just contact me and ask for a link personalised to the amount on your invoice, or otherwise enter this yourself through the basic link above.

PayPal QR Code

If you have PayPal and you have the PayPal app on your phone or tablet, you can scan the QR code on the right-hand side of most the pages on this website to link immediately to my account.

Other Options

I’m always looking at other possibilities to make the payment process as convenient as possible for you. Please revisit this page occasionally for updates in this regard.

Further Questions?

I can be fairly flexible about the above, so if you have any specific queries about any part of the payment process, please do get in touch at any time.
